3d to 2d

When exploring my 3d to 2d image I decided I wanted to use another photograph of my poetry garment and add more to it to make it feel even more like Ophelia. I added a water scene of top of the original image and then took a red filter over it to show the red that is constantly in different Ophelia pictures.

Paper Stacking

Paper Stacking
For my fruit of vegetable I decided to use a sweet potato because it is a larger vegetable that has many different sizes and angles within it. Also I thought that not a lot of people would use a sweet potato so I thought it would be interesting to see how it turned out.

For my inventive stacking I wanted to use different types of nail art and bright colors to show my personality within this piece.

Janine Antoni

While watching the video on Janine Antoni's worked I really enjoyed learning about how she used herself to become part of the art work. I also found it very interesting with how she felt and worked with materials to become close to them and use them more and more while she was continuing on with her artwork. My favorite piece of her was where she replicated the cow but used her body to create the shape of it and form within. I think it is truly amazing how she connects so much with her artwork and wants to be as much apart of it then just creating it.

memento

For my memento I decided to create a memory of my dog that had recently passed away. I used her favorite toy, a tennis ball, and then used red ribbon to wrap around it because when we got her as a puppy she was the one with the red ribbon. I decided to put a cardboard heart on it because her dog tag was in the shape of a heart and she loved everyone she met.

poetry garment

Poetry Garment
For my garment I wanted to create beauty and put it within nature. I researched pictures of artist and their interpretations of Ophelia and used these as my inspiration for my pictures.

Soap Carvings

Lion Carving

Fictitious Dishes

Fictitious Dishes

The story I read was the monkey paw and within the story there were some things that stood out to me like the use of alcohol and the old feeling it gave and the feeling of it being in a cabin somewhere cold. So when interpreting this I wanted to show the mother father and the son by the shot glasses. Each shot glass is filled with a different color to represent the person. The mother is blue because she becomes extremely upset about loosing her son, the father is green because he wished for money, and the son is pink/red and it is on his side because he died because of the fathers wish. I also decided to create a whisky jug because they mentioned drinking whisky and also I decided to create a serving plate that looked wooden to represent the old cabin feeling.

Soap Changes

Soap Changes

When going into this project I was clueless on where I wanted to begin and start and as I kept trying to make changes more and more ideas came about.

1. Cut legs off of soap

 2. Put soap in a candle to see what would happen.

3. Let the wax cover the entire animal.

4. Wash soap off and see what the shape becomes.

5. Use lighter to add shape to object.

6.Cut shape in half

7. Burned first shape with lighter

8. Add red paint to second shape

9. Add third shape.

10. Burn object with red paint

11. Add nail polish to third object when burning object caught on fire.

12. Add hairspray to hold objects.

Used balsa wood and pins to keep soap to the base.

Relief projects

The time periods that I studied were art Nuevo and Art Deco. When exploring this project I really looked into the different designs and shapes which were shown. My favorite part of this project the balsa wood door and columns, and also the different string work with the foam core and through the wood. I really enjoyed working with the different materials and using the wood shop to explore more ways to create lines, angles and designs within the wood and foam core.
